Design document for a new Doctoral Programme

The document is required when establishing a new Doctoral Programme. It is updated in the event of a review of the Doctoral Programme. It describes the reflections and phases that led to the establishment/revision of the Programme and is accompanied by reports or minutes.
In particular, the following aspects of AVA3 should be examined, analysed and explained:

D.PHD.1.1 In the design phase (initial and in progress) the motivations and potential for development and updating of the training and research project of the Doctoral Programme are explored, with reference to the cultural and scientific evolution of the reference areas, also through consultations with interested parties (both internal and external) in the outgoing cultural and professional profiles.

D.PHD.1.2 The Doctoral Programme Board has formally defined its own clear, articulated and public vision of the PhD students' research training path, consistent with the training objectives (both specific and transversal) and the available resources.

D.PHD.1.3 The selection methods and the training activities (both collegial and individual) proposed to PhD students are consistent with the educational objectives of the Doctoral Programme and with the outgoing cultural and professional profiles, and differ from I and II level teaching, also for the use of innovative methodologies for teaching and research.

D.PHD.1.4 The training project includes elements of interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity, while respecting the specificity of the Doctoral Programme.

D.PHD.1.5 The training and research project of the Doctoral Programme is ensured adequate visibility, also at an international level, on dedicated web pages.

D.PHD.1.6 The Doctoral Programme pursues the objectives of mobility and internationalisation also through the exchange of professors and doctoral students with other Italian or foreign universities, and the awarding of double, multiple or joint degrees in agreement with other universities.
The obligations and deadlines relating to the establishment of the Doctoral Programmes are defined annually by the Academic and Governing Bodies.
