Joint Committees, sharing of experiences and good practices

All Venues, Online Workshop on the Teams platform

On Tuesday 20 July 2021, as part of the FormAQ Project for educational activities, the meeting "Joint Teacher-Student Committees (CPDS): sharing experiences and good practices" was held on the Blackboard platform for the Deans, the Faculty Teaching Delegates and the members of the Faculty CPDS (professors and students). In particular, the meeting – which was attended by over 300 people – was an opportunity for a first involvement in quality assurance (QA) activities of students recently elected as student representatives in Faculty Councils or appointed as members of CPDS. Moderated by the teachers of the "FormAQ" project, proff. Andrea Gaggioli, Carlo Galimberti and Pierpaolo Triani, the training moment was punctuated by a series of interventions aimed at highlighting the purposes of QA and the necessary indications for the 2021/22 self-assessment cycle, starting with a concrete sharing of experiences and practices that fostered the awareness and involvement of the actors of the Joint Schools.

The work was opened by the testimony of the student Caterina Tasca, former member of the CPDS, who underlined the importance of direct confrontation between teachers and students of the same course of study to overcome some critical issues. Prof. Marco Petoletti, President of the CPDS of the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, then shared his experience, recalling the value of the many data available and the documentation that can be consulted in order to understand, know and practice the art of synthesis and evaluation.

Dr. Stefano Cerea then illustrated (download slides) the essential elements of the University Quality Assurance Guidelines for the drafting of the CPDS Report, while Dr. Elsa Serpico highlighted some essential themes of the activity of the Joint Board: among these, the invitation to meet throughout the year, to analyze in detail the SUA CdS of each course and to highlight proposals for improvement even not directly related to existing critical issues.

Prof. Carlo Galimberti described an experience of information and student involvement implemented in the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, with the aim of offering all the other Faculties food for thought on how to ensure adequate participation of students and teachers in quality assurance activities. Finally, Prof. Pierpaolo Triani proposed a summary of the main points that emerged in the various reports and moderated the question time.
